Notes:
                   DEATH:  Esther, a young daughter and the oldest child, was shot through the breast by the hostile Indians of 1784 while out in the barnyard milking the cows. She died immediately. She was aged seven years. The mother and one other daughterescaped the attack of the savages, the father firing at them from the house, and driving them away, in the twilight of the early evening, just as the sun was setting in the western horizon of the Autumn day.
