Gernons, Randulf de, Earl of Chester - aka Ranulf Guernan. Grand-nephew of Hughd'Avranches. With the help of Randulf/Ranulf's father-in-law, Robert of Caen, Earl of Gloucester, defeated King Stephen in 1141. Won over by Stephen with largegrants; later joined King Henry against Stephen. Thought to have been poisoned bysupporters of Stephen in 1153.
