A. CABLE

                   Philip Cable & Maria with dau. Barbara arrived at Philadelphia on ship "Pennsylvania Merchant" 11 Sep 1732. Dotterer History Reformed Church 1899:26 reports ththe was a member of Lutheran committee to erect the Old Geshoppen Lutheran-Reformed Union Church begun 1744 completed 1748; his will at York, Pa. probated in 1780 names children Abraham & Benjamin and several others.

     Chritian Shaffer of Summerhill Twp wroteof the Cables: Jacob Cable - native of Switzerland, came to America and settled in Maryland.  he married there and went across to Franklin Co. Pa.  While living in Frankllin Co. his son John was born in 1750.  The son John Cable left home at age 21 and went to Bedford Co. where Vhristian, Catherine and Mary the twins were born.  In 1782 the family moved to Cambria on the Shaffer & Pringle farms.  In 1783 a daughter Margaret was born,the first white child to be born north of the Conemaugh River in this particular area.
