                   Notes for Paulus CUSTER:
--Source of information: Ludicrissy ;
	WFT 1/3604 spelling Kuster
WFT 1/5099 shows date of death as January 28, 1707/08
WFT 1/0098 spelling Paul Kuster, shows date of death as January 1707/08.
WFT 2/0974 spelling Kuster, source of specific dates and places of birth and death. Prior date of birth range 1630-39, this tree shows 1644 with Gertrude's date of birth as about 1646, whereas prior date was 1628. These make more sense looking at the children's dates of birth. This tree shows Paulus' place of birthas Prussia and death in Germantown.
WFT 2/3839 says he was born in Kaldenkirchen. I'm using it.
WFT 4/1690 shows date of death as January 1707/08, but contains known errors.See note on Paul Custer b. 1710, attached in this tree, I believe, to wrong parents.
WFT 4/3984 notes: Paulus and Gertrude Doors Custers imigrated (sic) from Kaldenkirchen, Germany to Germantown, PA circa 1684-1691 with their three sons. (Email from Lynn Marshall 10/4/97 states: "Paulus . . . who came to PA from Crefeld, 1699.")
WFT 4/4110 shows Paulus' date of death as January 28, 1706/07.
I find it interesting that Paulus and Gertrude died at about the same time, regardless of the dates. NOTE: When editing, probably change death date to January 18 or 28, 1707 or 08.
	WFT 8/0620 shows Paulus Kuster, b. 1630 and Gertrude b. about 1651.
WFT 9/0893 shows both Paulus' and Gertrude's dates of death as AFTER 28 January1707/08 which leads me to believe that there is some documentation showing thatthey were both still alive at least until that date. It could also imply thatthey did die together.
	WFT 9/0894 same as 0893.
"Early Settlers" (Seaman) p. 6 shows Paulus' date of birth as 1639
SEE NOTES ON WIFE GERTRUDE DOORS from "13 from 1683" (Niepoth) which further states: The Küsters family emigrated to Germantown about 1691-93, and joined theMennonite congregation there.
See also notes from "13 of 1683" (Niepoth) baptism records in notes on Theiss Doors.

--Source of info, Dana Custer (dcuster@val.net); There is more information thatDana sent to me. I have his GEDCOM/Family Tree file. I only list (usually), the person's name, birth year, and marriage date (to sort spouses).

From "The Pennsylvania Genealogical Magazine" Volume XXXI 1980 Number 3 an article titled "The Ancestry of the Thirteen Krefeld Emigrants of 1683" by Wilhelm Niepoth, translated by John Brockie Lukens: page 505 "...in the church records ofthe Reformed congregation of Kaldenkirchen. On 16 October 1668 were married there Paulus Kuster, bachelor of Kaldenkirchen, and Gertrud Doors, spinster of Kaldenkirchen. Children of theirs baptized there were: Arnold, baptized 9 June 1669; 2. Johannes, baptized 12 December 1670; 3. Matthys, baptized 6 December 1671;4. Reiner, baptized 2 December 1674.
Later other children were born, but not baptized at Kaldenkirchen; Elizabeth and Hermann.
Going by the first name of the eldest son, the father of Paulus Kusters must have been the Catholic, Arret Kusters, who lived in Kaldenkirchen.

--Source of information: The descendants of Paulus and Gertrude Kusters of Kaldenkirchen, Germany and Germantown, Pennsylvania : the first four generations ; Descendants of Paulus Kuster (ca. 1644-1707/8) and Gertrude Doors (d. ca. 1708) who were married in 1668 in Kaldenkirchen, Germany. Date of immigration to America unknown, conjectured to beabout 1700. The family settled in Germantown, Pennsylvania. Descendants lived inPennsylvania, Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and other locations.

Notes for Gertrude DOORS:
--Source of info, Dana Custer (dcuster@val.net); Shows her last name to have been (DOORS) STREYPERS, she may have been married before or after being married toPaulus KUSTER.

--Source of information: Frances P. Morrison (fpm9944@ix.netcom.com); Shows herlast name to have been DOORS.

--Source of information: ; She died in an epidemic.

--Source of information: Grace Ebneter ; Lists her nameas Gertrude DOORS, with the following info.
Some of this information was updated in the 1980s when a German scholar researched the people who settled Germantown, Pennsylvania. More recent research is based on translations from
church records in Germany which were not available at that time or at least notfound until studies by Wilhelm Niepoth of Germany were translated (in the 1980s)and Chester Custer wrote "The Kusters and Doors of Kaldenkirchen, Germany and Germantown, Pennsylvania" in Pennsylvania Mennonite Heritage in 1986.He discovered the church records which document many of the CUSTER/KUSTER family births, marriages, etc. The most important discovery made with all this research and translation of it is that the wife of Paulus KUSTER was not Gertrude STREYPERS, but Gertrude DOORS.
When the information lists her last name as STREYPERS, this usually tells thattheir information comes from an article in The Pennsylvania Magazine of Historyand Biography in 1880 by Samuel W. Pennypacker called "The Settlement of Germantown, and the Causes Which Led to It"
