NOTES: 1. Milton ans Nancy Jane Light Jamieson and family of four boys and one girl left Missouri early in April 1850 for California. Near Council Bluff, Milton was accidently shot in the jaw. He died at the Old Fort Laramie in Wyoming. Nancy and the five children went on with light wagons.Nancy, daughter Catherine,Isaac and Samuel rode horseback, John and Lindsay drove the wagons. They were never molested by Indians, but saw where other trains were,and a number killed. They arrived in Georgetown California late in September an d camped there about a month. Nancy made pies and sold to the miners for $1.0 0 each. Lindsay and Catherine picked wild berries for the pies. 2. "Uncle John and Uncle Lindsay died at Georgetown of Throat Trouble. Uncle Samuel was a physician and Uncle Issac a dentist and as it was getting cold so they moved to Sacremento. Uncle Samuel died there in February. The first of April Uncle Isaac, grandmother (Nancy) and Mother (Margaret) moved to Jamieson Canyon (named for them) on land they got from General Vallejo in1851. They lived there until Uncle sold the place and moved to Grand Island in Colusa County in the fall of 1857." As told by Alice Gertrude Gill.
James and Margaret lived in Yolo, Colusa, Tahema, and Shasta Counties in California. They were involved in farming, teaming, merchandizing, and butchering.
He married Nancy Ann Light Abt 1827 at of Kentucky . Nancy Ann Light was born at Berkley City, Virginia 27 Dec 1796 .
