William Holmes WALKER
BIRTH: Birth date also listed as 29 August 1820. NOTES: 1. All four wives of William Holmes WALKER were sealed to him 22 Apr 1865 at the Endowment House. 2. After the death of William's mother in 1842, he lived in the home of Joseph Smith at Nauvoo, Illinois. He married Olive Farr in 1843. 3. William started west with Mormon pioneers in 1846 and joined the Mormon Battalion in the Mexican War. He was a private in Company "B". 4. Missionary and mission president in South Africa, 1852-1857. 5. Resided in Utah until 1887, when he moved to Idaho.
NOTES: 1. Sealed to Fanny and Stephen Van Velsor. 2. Joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the state of New York, and emigrated to Nauvoo, Illinois. 3. Mary and her mother were driven from their homes in Nauvoo, in what was known as the Exodus and in this they suffered untold trials. MARRIAGE: Married by President Heber C. Kimball. He was a brother-in-law of William Holmes Walker, married to his sister, Lucy.
