Soldier of Rev War (Rev War Record: R2313) (As sworn in his declaration date 22 Aug 1836, Served in a company of militia under the command of Capt. John Luckett and was at the siege of Yorktown) It is believed that his military service started & ended abt 1778 at Rapidan, VA. His military service began again about Apr 1779 and ended again 1780 at Loudoun, VA. His military service began a thired time in Aug 1781at Yorktown, York, VA., and ended again Nov 1781 at Winchester, Frederick, VA.
He was a wealthy land owner; innkeeper in the Bloomery District near Forks of ? Capon (Cacapeon) River.
Buried in old Copsey gravyard, 1.6 miles west of Forks of Capon on Rt 45, 100 feet north of the highway. Cops(e)y graveyard is located along the road that leads west from Bloomery to Slanesville. As you approach the bridge that crosses the little Cacapon River, look to your right at an open field. This is the site of the former tavern. Turn around & head back toward Bloomery. Turn left on the first dirt road (a few hundred yards from the bridge) and look to your right as you go up hill. Markers and mostly uninscribed stones are in the graveyard.
