John must have died between 30 Jul 1833 & 8 Oct 1833. 1797: Received a gift of 30 acres in Albemarle Co., VA., from his father, Robert Field. It was the beginning of his Batesville property. 1806: Received a gift of 129 acres (Sarahs marriage portion from her father, Jesse Wood.) John and Sarah and all 14 children moved to Cooper Co., MO. Taken from Field Genealogy, Vol I by Frederick Clifton Pierce Historian and Genealogist. Published 1901. John was a Captain in the 8th Regiment, 4th Brigade, Virginia militia in the war of 1812. Resided in Virginia Will Probated in May Court in Barran Co., Ky. A John Field is listed as an executor to a Will for Cornelius Gilliam written 12 October, 1819 and Probated May 1832. As stated in the Will he was from Albemarle Co. Va. and his wifes name was Sarah. Executors besides John Field were John Wood, Jesse Wood Sr and Jesse Wood Jr. John Field born 1774 and died 1833. John was in the 8th Regiment of the Virginia militia. He married Sally Wood. As John, Jesse Sr, and Jesse Jr. were witnesses to the above Probate as was John Field, it is assumed that this John Field is the brother of Robert M . Field Jr., who (Robert) is known to have been born in Albamarle Co., Va. and to have died i n Barren Co., Kentucky. This will places John Field in Barren County, Kentucky in 1832 along with his wife whose maiden name was Wood. The Cornelius Gilliam Will can be found in the Barren Co., Ky Will Book 3, p. 72.
NAME: Lieutenant Green B. FIELD NOTES: 1. Served as Lieutenant in War of 1812. 2. Moved in 1817 to Pope County, Illinois where he laid off the town of Golconda, which became the county seat. 3. Was Rep. for Pope County in 1st General Assembly from 1818-1820. 4. Died of yellow fever in Louisiana in 1823. 5. Resided in Paris, Kentucky and Golconda, Illinois.
NOTES: 1. Joseph was a corporal in his brother's (Capt. John Field) outfit in the War of 1812 and died or was killed in the service. 2. He died before his father, leaving sons William and Joseph. 3. His widow then married John Robinson.
He married Sarah Green Abt 1773 at Hanover, Virginia . Sarah Green was born at of Albemarle, Virginia Abt 1750 .
