OCCUPATION: School Teacher Moved from Old Dominion to Madison Co KY in 1818, and then to Logan Co KY. In 1832 he moved with children to Cooper Co., MO where they died and are buried. Death date might be 26 May 1847? The record of Pleasant Bailey Oglesby is taken out of a hand-made book, made by him. It is written in long hand, bound in calf skin. All of his examples and lessons are in it. He used this one book, in teaching school, when he sat down to teach for nine months, on February 21, 1785, on Morris Creek, Virginia.[I could only locate a Morrisville in Culpeper Co., VA.] Records found herein: Pleasant Bailey Oglesby was born March 15, 1766, in Albemarle County, Virginia. He was the son of Jacob Oglesby and Ann, his wife. They were married February 4, 1760. Their son, Pleasant Oglesby married Betsy Gillum, December 24, 1787. Their children: John Oglesby, born 1790 married Betsy Thomas. Tarlton Woodson Oglesby, born January 13, 1793 married Antonet Rucker. Charles married Polly Gilbert Pleasant married Milly Woolery Frances died at the age of 23 Maria married Billy Gillum Elizabeth, born March 20, 1807, died at 16 years of age Martha Ann, born August 9, 1811, married Jessie Field, November 14, 1834 [She was the grandmother of Dr. Harry Field Parker.] A clipping pasted in the Oglesby Record book: Jacob Oglesby and Ann Bailey were married in Goochland County, Virginia, February 14, 1760 by Rev. Douglas. Thomas a son, born January 5, 1761 Jesse a son, born November 15, 1763 Pleasant Bailey born March 15, 1766 In marriage records in Madison County, Kentucky There lived a Jessie Oglesby, who married Celia Witt in 1796. Jessie died there in 1852. He was a Revolutionary Soldier and so was Thomas, firstborn son of Jacob Oglesby and Ann Bailey, his wife. The record also shows that Tarlton Oglesby and Antonet Rucker, his wife were Bondsmen to John Thomas. [Source: Bible Records of Missouri, Vol. VIII
