Birth year might be 1688/1699 or Abt 1705, Somerset Co., MD.?
1691 Bonded Out at age 11?
In 1747 (or prior to) John Parker arrived from England, spent a short time in NJ., then on to Hampshire Co., VA (WV). Settled on the South Branch of the Potomac, nearly opposite old home place.
Died between 28 Sep 1760 (will date) and 11 Nov 1760 (when Will was proven). His estate was settled in Hampshire Co., VA. (now WV).
John Parker first wife we think was Martha Tandy, his second wife might have been Elizabeth or Elizabeth Ann, Bond? or Taliaferro? or Giles?
A John Parker (this might be John Parker Jr?) had a wife named Mary in 1772 when he bought more land along Pattersons Creek.
This may be the same John Parker, 1Z3W-PCX? if so then his first wife was Elizabeth Giles, 1Z3W-PD5. This John Parker as stated by "Ancestral File" as b Abt 1705 VA, d Abt 1760 Hampshire Co, VA (WVA), m Elizabeth Giles Abt 1729, VA. No other Info.
Bonded out at age 11 in 1691-from Order Book 2, page 335 Rappahannock Co. Culpeper Co deeds 1749-1762 Vol 1 & 2, page 60-61, Deed Book "C", page 453-460 show that Robert Taliferro of Caroline Co VA and his wife Jane sold 1359 acres of land on Mountain Run, the Great fork of the Rappahannock River for L162/12/0 on 16 or 17 April 1760. Info from "Nall(e) Families of America" section on Parker family page 820. Info from Mr & Mrs Robert T. Weaver 5100 John D Ryan Blvd, #341, San Antonio, TX 78245-3534.
Book from the Romney County Lib., "The Parker Family" page 73, states that John Parker came from England "in the year of 1749". Sheepskin parchment held by Catherine Blue suggests that his land was (1) on the North Branch of the Potomac River. (2) Granted lot # 43, Fairfax land grant. (3) He purchased Lot #44 consisting of 350 acers from Thomas Lord Thomas Fairfax on July 24, 1749. He bought (4) 1450 acres on Patterson Creek from Robert Taliferro. (5) In 1772 he secured more land on Patterson Creek (this procurement might have been made by John Parker Jr.?
Information held by Joseph William French, in1925, (Pg 48 & 82), that John Parker supposed to have been in New Jersey before 1747. Came from England before 1747. Brady French has deeds of conveyance for land made to John Parker. Sheepskin parchment, with seal of Gt. Britian and signed by Hon., Thomas Loard Fairfax, Baron on Cameron Gt., Britain dated 1749, Conveys to John Parker of the Northern Neck of the Great South Branch VA 350 acres now known as Brady farm. Also, on Patterson Creek 312 acers & Little Capon, 250 acers.
Earliest known ancestor. Prob. b. about 1680. May have been in Hampshire Co, VA, some documents say he was born in "Old" Rappahannock Co, VA., others state born "Massachusets", 1700, died Hampshire Co., VA., 1760. Latest info indicates that a John Parker was born in Calvert Co., MD. in 1688 and was the son of Sir William Parker of Englind. Sir William was the son of Sir George who was the son of Sir Thomas Parker.
County Seat for Calvert Co MD I think is city of Prince Frederick.
Owner of 2821 acres and several slaves.
Will was dated 28 Sept 1760 so he must have died between this date and 11 Nov 1760 when will was proven--other papers say estate settled on June 1 1765 and looks correct. Now have full copy of his will.
See notes for Elizabeth his wife.
Fort John Parker located on Lot 44 of the Fairfax South Branch survey in the eastern end of the big loop made by that river 2 1/2 miles east, southeast of Springfield W. VA. See page 152 of the "Frontier Forts Along The Potomac and Its Tributaries by William H. Ansel, Jr.
John Parker may be buried in the Parker Cem., (ancient cemetery) about 200 feet north of the stone foundation of Fort Parker and marked with native stone.
One report states that his wife name was Mary? (Now think this might be a different John Parker).
Ref: VA Marriage Bonds 1824 to 1828, page 102. dated 11 Feb 1826, John Parker married Mary Ann Whiteman, ward of John Piper, who was also the bondsman. This may or maynot be the same John Parker?
John Parker was probably born around 1700, although it could have been earlier. The Parker family and the Rogers family both appeared about the year 1749 on Patterson Creek in what was then Frederick County, Virginia, later became Hampshire County, Virginia and is today Mineral County, West Virginia. This was considered the Northern Neck of Virginia and grants to individuals in that area were made by Thomas, Lord Fairfax. Hampshire County was formed in 1753 from Frederick County which was in turn formed in 1738 from Orange and Augusta. Orange County was formed in 1734 from Spotsylvania and Augusta was formed in 1738 from Orange.
On 8 June 1749 John Parker was of Frederick County when he was granted 312 acres of land on Patterson Creek known as Lot No. 12 [Northern Neck Grants VA Land Patents Book 6:158]. On 24 July 1749 he received another grant for land in Frederick Co VA in 1753 consisting of 350 acres on the south branch of the Potomac known as Lot #44 [Ibid. Book G:226]. John Parker received several other grants of land in Hampshire County, mostly made in the year 1757 [Sims Index to Land Grants in West Virginia, p. 217].
At this same time on 10 June 1749 Mathew Rogers was granted 379 acres on Patterson Creek [Ibid. Book G:159]. The original Rogers pioneer was Mathew who had four sons, William, James, Jonathan and Mathew and one daughter Nancy Agnes who married John Bailey. The son William Rogers had nine children, three girls who married Parker brothers [Rogers Run by Linda Czarny, p. 14].
On 22 March 1758 John Parker must have been in Culpeper County, Virginia when he witnessed, along with Samuel Clayton and Henry Gaines, a deed for the sale of land on Mountain Run by Robert Taliaferro of Caroline County [Culpeper Co., VA Deeds Volume Two 1755-1762 by John Frederick Dorman, p. 29].
In September of 1758 in Culppeper County one John Parker was paid for provisions for the militia under Colonel Martin's certificate [Statutes at Large by William Hening, Volume VII, p. 213]. At the same time Nathaniel Parker was paid. This was presumably John Parker's son, although this is not known for certain. This record does establish that one John Parker must have had a home in Culpeper County, since otherwise he would have had no stock from which to supply provisions. However, these records may have been for another John Parker, perhaps the other son of John Parker who died young leaving a son Thomas.
John Parker was of Hampshire County, Virginia on 16-17 April 1760 when he purchased 1359 acres of land in Culpeper County from Robert Taliaferro of Caroline County in a deed of lease and release Culpeper Co., VA Deeds Volume Two 1755-1762 by John Frederick Dorman, p. 60-61]. The land was located on Mountain Run. John Parker wrote his will on 28 September 1760 and it was probated in Hampshire County on 11 November 1760. He named a wife Elizabeth and stated that he wanted his grandson Thomas Parker to have an equal share with the rest of his children. Although this grandson could have been the child of one of his living sons, it is more likely that he was the only child of a deceased son or daughter. He named his son Robert as executor and William Foreman and Benjamin Kuykendall as securities. Witnesses were William Smith and John Ross [Early Records of Hampshire Co., WV by Clara Sage and Laura Jones, p. 128].
By 12 June 1765 John's widow Elizabeth had married again to Thomas McGuire and the two executed a deed along with John's children to partition his lands [Hampshire Co., VA DB 1:282-8]. There were seven tracts of land and the heirs apparently decided among themselves who would receive which portions of the land. The grandson Thomas was not included in this division of land because according to the deed he had died without issue and not of legal age, but the newly married widow did share. All of the land was in Hampshire County except for one tract on Mountain Run in Culpeper County which was allocated 1/2 to Richard Parker and 1/2 to his sister Elizabeth Hill. All of the children signed the deed along with John's widow Elizabeth McGuire and all appeared to be living in Hampshire County at the time it was executed. (SWilson 27Jan97)
In 1794 he sold land to Daniel Taylor. (How much, some or all?)
John Parker's will is in the Hampshire Co Courthouse and his estate sale is at the WVA Library at Colson Hall, Morgantown, WVA.
Total land willed by John Parker was 2,925 acers.

(1) From the mouth of Patterson Creek to Job Piersall’s (at Romney) and (2) a road that leads from lower Patterson Creek past Power Hazel’s lot #8 to the wagon road on Col., Parker’s lot #1 to the wagon road that leads from Winchester to South Branch. These to roads would inter-connect and settlers along Patterson Creek, but would allow travel to the courthouse in Winchester and create a gateway for traiding.

Bible Records from M.B. DeWitt family Bible, in possession of John H. DeWitt lists Nathaniel Parker's birth as VA., 1724. Ancestral File gives birth date of 1734?
The Duffy Family Bible, dating from abt 1830, names the wife of this Nathaniel Parker as "Elizabeth". Paul E. Foster theorizes in 1998 that Elizabeth last name was Page, based on the number of descendants with "Page" as first or middle name.
From his fathers will (John Parker) he received 312 acres on Patterson Creek, Hampshire Co VA. Nathaniel purchased 220 acers from James Rogers and his wife Martha for 5 shillings. Ref Hampshire Co VA DB 2:229-232.
1782 Virginia Census: Listed in Hampshire Co VA with 10 whites and 5 blacks.
1784 Virginia Census: Listed in Hampshire Co VA with 10 whites in his household. Payed tax on his land in Hampshire Co through 1792, but no tax listed after that year.
Death date may be 1803 or 1805?
BURI PLAC Parker Family Cemetery, Sumner Co., TN. Much speculation has been made about the whereabouts of Nathaniel's Bledsoe Monument near Castalian Springs, TN. I personally believe that, as many of his sons did, Nathaniel requested that a family burial ground be established and his body be laid to rest on his family's plantation. Son, Robert A. Parker, Sr. and his first wife, Patsey Martin are buried on a farm formerly owned by Oscar Branham, which is very near the location where Nathaniel Parker's original cabin stood until the1990's. In this cemetery are many sunken, older graves whose headstones over the years have broken, deteriorated, and been scattered. I feel that this is most likely where he, and possibly even his son, Aaron, are buried. Eura Lee Perry, great-granddaughter of Robert A. Parker, Jr., recalls older family members saying that this cemetery is also the site of her grandparents', Martha Parker Perry's and Lucilius Perry's, graves.
