OCCUPATION: Rancher OCCUPATION: Attended mexico Military Academy, Mexico, Missouri & Westminister College, Fulton, Missouri. In 1946 they had 9 living ch. and 15 gr ch. and 2 g gr ch. Jim (also called Jimmy) went to Mexico Military Academy then to Westminster College (1894-1895) in Fulton Missouri. (Mexico Missouri is about 100 miles northeast of Warrensburg). Was expelled from Westminster for some unknown prank. Mar 1898 homestead 3 miles south of Ovid (About 10 miles southeast of Julesburg CO). Lived in a "Soddy" for a year or so until lumber could be shipped from Warrensburg MO. In 1908 moved to Julesburg. Democrate. Served as a County Commissioner, Sedgwick Co., county Treasurer and member of the Sedgwick County School Board, Julesburg CO. For a time, financed a mony-losing weekly newspaper supposedly to assure Democratic viewpoints. Ardent Supporter of Franklin Roosevelt in 1930's and later Harry S. Truman. Appointed Julesburg's Post Master. With his new bride moved from Warrensburg Missouri to Julesburg Colorado in March 1898. First home for about a year was a "Soddies". (A large hole covered with boards on which sod was dumped.) Lumber for the ranch house was shipped from Warrensburg MO. House built about 1 1/2 miles Southwest of Ovid CO., (about 10 miles from Julesburg) on the nearby South bank of the South Platte River. The ranch is about 8,000 (or larger) acres. James H the IV, advised me in Aug 98 that he had bought addational ranch land. I think he said about 2,000 more. Julesburg was a stop on the Pony Express route. (We went there one year (Jiim and I and our teenage son Bill) at this time of year and got up at 3 am to join this family in watchng the recreation of this event. Interesting but darned cold. ) Foster has his death date as 2 Nov 1956? Member F&AM.

DEATH: Cause of death was Brain Cancer. NOTES: For several months after WWI, Horace and Marion F. Parker spent time together both in Colorado and Missouri. Horace in 1926, at his wife's urging, they went to Chicago.
EDUCATION: Attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs for 2 years and then 2 years at the University of Nebraska.
OCCUPATION: Rancher NOTES: 1. Droped out of school in his Junior year to help work the ranch with his father because of the depression. Jim took over eventually as owner. Later passed it on to his son, James H. Parker. 2. Ranch was incorporated as the Parker Land & Cattle Company.

Veteran of WWII, LCDR., U.S. Navy, Navy Service Number 194950, intelligence officer, Commander, Pacific Fleet. 2. Assisted with breaking codes of communication and served on the staff of Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz, Commander Pacific Fleet, WWII. 3. Executive Officer for Admiral Spruance. 4. After the war he became Senior VP of Maryland Casualty Insurance Company , Kansas City office for 42 years - retired in 1972. 5. Lived in Winter Park, FL, for several years after retirement - moved back to Warrensburg, MO in 1990.

OCCUPATION: Salesman NOTES: 1. Was County Clerk in Sedgwick County, Colorado and a successful businessman. 2. Was injured in car accident in Dec 1956, underwent brain surgery in Denver, Colorado. 3. U.S. Army Air Corp, and in the first wave to hit Normandy Beach, WWII. 4. Owned furniture store in Holyoke, Colorado, later was manager of Equitable Savings and Loan, Julesburg, Colorado. EDUCATION: Attended University of Wyoming.
OCCUPATION: Pharmacist NOTES: 1. Always wanted to be an archaeologist and pursued that interest the rest of his life as a hobby. Gave his impressive arrowhead collection to the University of Colorado. 2. Became a drugest and operated the main drug store in Julesburg for many years. 3. U.S. Army 1943-1946, Medic, served in India, China & the Burma Road.
NOTES: 1. Moved to Culver City, Southern California. 2. Was a U.S. Navy nurse stationed in Hawaii during WWII.
He married Nellie Foster 16 Sep 1896 at Sedgwick, Colorado . Nellie Foster was born at Lafayette, Missouri 25 Dec 1875 .
