HISTORY OF SARATOGA COUNTY, NEW YORK; by Nataniel B. Sylvester, Gresham Publishing Company, Richmond, Ind., 1893, short biography of Arthur J. WOODARD, with reference to his Grandfather Lucius WOODARD, page 368.  Lucius was born and reared among the Green Montains of Vermont, and resided in the state until 1843, when he moved to New york and settled in the town of Luzerne, Warren Conty, where he lived for a few years, and then purchase a farm in the town of Hadley, Saratoga Conty, upon which he continued to reside untill his death in 1881,at the advanced age of seventy-four years.  He was a prosperous farmer,a stanch Democrat in politics, and married Mary Spalding, by whom he had three children, all of whom were born in Vermont.

Sophia noted as Sophia Hatch, with no children, and the daughter of Luches Woodard and May Spaulding; Hatch may be Sophia's married surname. WOODARD.  Lucius WOODARD was born 8 Oct 1806; based on his birth date Sophie likely is a WOODARD and sister of Lucius, however, this is not documented
(Kenneth M. REIM interpertation).
