ANDREAS' HISTORY OF THE STATE OF NEBRASKA - Burt Co., Part 2; G.A.CRANNELL., farmer, Section 12, P.O. Tekamah is a native of Saratoga County, N.Y.  In 1857, came to Jackson County, Iowa.  In 1857, he crossed the plains to California; there engaged in mining; in 1867, returned to Jackson County; soon thereafter came to Nebraska; located on his present farm. He owns 420 acres of land, which are well improved; was elected County Commissioner in 1881.
A HISTORY OF BURT COUNTY NEBRASKA, from 1803 to 1929; page 125, born in  Saratoga County, New York, January 18, 1837 (in variance with above Ellen Crannell reference).  Son of Elijah and Mary Lord Crannell.  Farmed with his father there untill he moved to Jackson County, Iowa, in April 1859.  Farmed there untill March 1, 1861, then went across the plains in a prarie schooner to California, using four yoke of cattle, and staid there untill September 1866, after which he moved back to Jackson County, Iowa, and from there to Burt County in May 1867.  He farmed here for 49 years.  He maried Eliza Woodley, who died August 21, 1874, and he was married again, the second time to Sarah A. Smith, of burt county, on August 26, 1878.  His second wife is now also deceased.  Mr. Crannel has two sons living, Frank H. and Gearge Pearl.  And one son deceased, Arthur A.  Mr Crannell is one of the eldest pioneers living in Tekamah at this time and is now living in Tekamah.
