Clarence William KJELDGAARD

OBITUARY; he spent his childhood and youth in the Silver Creek community, Burt County, Nebraska. Clarence Kjeldgaard farmed in the Tekamah area following his return from the service during World War I. He moved to town in 1936 and worked in and around Tekamah untill his retirement. A military service was conducted at the Tekamah Cemetery.

He enlisted in the Army in 1940, served in the European Theatre for almost 2 years. There two girls were born in Omaha. Merrick was called back into the Amy in 1952 and served in Korea from June 1953 to Octobe 1954. He brought bsack the Infantry colors to Ft. Lewis, Washington and served the rest of his enlistment at Ft.Carson, Colorado. He was discharged Janauary 3, 1956. Since then Canon City, Colorado has been his home. OBITUARY, Plaindealer, Tekamah, Nebraska, January 17, 1966. Active member of the U.S. Army for over 12 years. The farmer and auto mechanic resisded most his life in Nebraska and Colorado. He live in Canon City, Colorado for 39 years, returning to Nebraska in 1993, and moved to Lyons area in September 1995.

It was depression years when Neil was a young man needing a job, so he became part of the Civilian Conservation Corp based inTekamah. When their son, John, was quite small, Neil went to the doctor with a pain which resembled appendicitis. It turned out to be T.B., and he was hospitalized in the Veteran's hospital in Omaha for a year. Neil worked in maintenance for the Summit township for years.

Raymond farmed west of Herman, Nebraska. Their four children were born their, and each of them developed an interest in farming or being farmer's wives. Beth Ann was just beginning to enjoy being a grandmother when she contacted cancer, and died when she was only 53.
He married Daisy Woodard 18 Dec 1917 at Tekamah, Burt Co., Nebraska . Daisy Woodard was born at Tekamah, Burt Co., Nebraska 7 Feb 1894 daughter of Merrick Bennett Woodard and Anna Louise Winslow .
