KJELDGAARD FAMILY TREE, page 51, 1988, by Enola Kjeldgaard (wife of Harold Kjeldgaard), Burt County Museum, P.O. Box 125, Tekamah, Nebraska 68061.  He enlisted in the Army in 1940, served in the European Theatre for almost 2 years.  There two girls were born in Omaha.  Merrick was called back into the Amy in 1952 and served in Korea from June 1953 to Octobe 1954.  He brought bsack the Infantry colors to Ft. Lewis, Washington and served the rest of his enlistment at Ft.Carson, Colorado.  He was discharged Janauary 3, 1956.  Since then Canon City, Colorado has been his home.
OBITUARY, Plaindealer, Tekamah, Nebraska, January 17, 1966.  Active member of the U.S. Army for over 12 years.  The farmer and auto mechanic resisded most his life in Nebraska and Colorado.  He live in Canon City, Colorado for 39 years, returning to Nebraska in 1993, and moved to Lyons area in September 1995.
