Herman August Treptow was not an enthusiastic farmer. He worked well with his
brother Arthur, and made investments with him. One such investment was the
purchase of a threashing machine, which they would hire out to their neighbors
at harvest time. Herman followed Art to Chicago to work, then served in the
Navy Seabee during World War II. After the war, Art helped Herman find work as
a building engineer in a large office building in Chicago. Herman married
Violet Sullivan February 15, 1958; this marriage was not a happy one, and ended
in divorce. Notes by Kathryn Rae (HANKE) STEVENS, June 4, 2000.
