Tombstone in Zion Evangelical Church cemetery, 2-1/2 miles south and 1//2 mile
east of Ithaca, Saunders County, Nebraska, is inscribed "BERTHA E. WIFE OF
REV. A.C. NOERENBERG 1872 - 1959".

Bertha Emma (SCHIEFELBEIN) NOERENBERG was the fourth child and third daughter
of C. Fredrick and Pauline (MALVITC) SCHIEFELBEIN.  The first child of the
family to be born in America (Illionis); born September 1872.  She was six
years old at the time the family moved west to Nebraska.  She married Albert
NOERENBERG in 1890.  Their family home was 4-1/2 miles south and 1/4 miles east
of Ithaca, Nebraska, in Green Township.  Albert, her husband, immigrated from
Germany to Nebraska at the age of fourteen.  A preacher, he died at the age
of 32 years.  Their first two sons died of diptheria in infancy, in 1895.
Bertha was left as a young widow at 26 years of age with three children ranging
in age from 4 years to 5 months.  Notes from genealogical report of of Albert
