Obituary: Donald Keith Nelson Published: Monday, Jan. 28, 2002 12:19 p.m. MST Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Donald Keith Nelson, passed away January 26, 2002 in Salt Lake City. He was born July 18, 1924 in Howell, UT the third of nine children born to Norman and Elizabeth Datwyler Nelson. Don attended school in Howell and Bear River. He loved his country and was honored to serve in World War II. As a member of the Fifteenth Air Force, 461st Bomb Group stationed in Italy, he flew in many missions over Central Europe. Upon his return, Don served an LDS mission to Texas and Louisiana. On Dec 1, 1949 he married Electa Thompson in the Salt Lake Temple. Don owned and operated his own company, Donald K. Nelson Construction Co., and was a successful and highly respected businessman. He was well known for his honesty and integrity. He served in the bishopric of the Salt Lake 31st Ward, Park Stake High Council, and in numerous other church callings. He was known for his fun loving personality, his generosity and concern for others. A gifted athlete, Don played football, baseball in a semi-professional league, and enjoyed playing golf with his daughters. Don loved his family, and he will always be remembered and sorely missed by his wife, Electa; four daughters and their spouses, Melanie and Brent Squires, Rebecca and Steve Patrick, Kathryn and John Burrows, Shannon and Rick Jones; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Rick) Miller, Ra-chael (Ryan) Cassady, Allison (Nathan) Price, Michele and Gregory Squires, Amanda Burrows; brother, LaMar Nelson; and sisters, Yvonne Sparks, Ardyth McBride, Norma Jenson, Lola Castleton, Arva Jost. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Delbert Nelson; and sister, Maureen Heinl. Services will be Wed. Jan 30, East Mill Creek 4th Ward Chapel, 3103 E. 3600 S, 12 noon. Friends may call Tues, Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Dr, 6-8 p.m. and Wed. 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
