BOUNTIFUL -
Violet McBride Ricks, age 91, passed away peacefully July 4, 2003.
Born Sept 1, 1911 in Hyrum, UT to Samuel McBride and Eliza Jane Hall.
Violet attended schools in Hyrum, but left school at age 13 to assume responsibilities of raising the family when her mother passed away.
Years later she continued her education, receiving her high school diploma, and attended Community College.
Married Lewis A. Ricks Nov 4, 1935 in Brigham City, UT.
Later divorced.
She worked at several vocations including secretarial, clerical and sales and marketing. She worked at Farmers State Bank, The State of Utah, Hill Field Air Force Base, and as a real estate agent.
Violet enjoyed dancing, socializing and writing poetry, some of which she had published. Mom was one of those rare people who could talk to anyone, anywhere, and usually did. She was not large in stature, but was a "feisty lady" who would stand her ground and fight for what she thought was right.
Survived by her two children, Ilene Ricks Barnett (Jack) of Bountiful, UT, Martin R. Ricks (Carol) of Las Vegas, NV; 10 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; three brothers, Austin McBride, Leo McBride, Darrel McBride; three sisters, Jerry Hobbs, Gladys Bohi, and Elva Quester.
Preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother.
Services will be July 8, 12 noon at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Dr., SLC.
Friends may call 11 a.m.-12 noon prior to services.
Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park following services.

                   Obituary: Austin Frank McBride
Published: Tuesday, May 9, 2006 11:16 a.m. MDT
Austin Frank McBride 1913 ~ 2006 Austin Frank McBride of Kaysville was born April 19, 1913 in Hyrum, Utah to Samuel and Eliza Jane McBride. He passed peacefully away May 3, 2006 just four months after his sweet wife, Mary, and on the day of their 60th wedding anniversary. Austin learned the importance of hard work and responsibility at a very young age. When he was 12, his mother died, leaving eight young children. He and his sister had major roles in rearing their siblings. When young, he loved horses and being in the mountains, but now it must be said: He loved God, family, Church, and fellowmen, and loved to serve them. He was a good Samaritan, and with his contagious smile and upbeat attitude, a friend to every stranger. He had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a good father to his family and to many who looked to him as a father. His life was filled with trials and accidents, but they, along with his World War II Army experiences, just gave him more stories to tell us. Austin and Mary were married in the Logan Temple and lived in Hyrum, Pingree, ID, SLC, and Kaysville. He is survived by five children and their spouses, Jane (Bill) Flint, Kaysville, Frank (Ruby) McBride, West Jordan, Brent (Sally) McBride, Lay-ton, Kim (Connie) McBride, West Jordan, Martin (Patti) McBride, Taylorsville; 23 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jerrie Hobbs, Ginger Bohi, Elva (Lew) Kuester; a brother, Darrell (Ardyth) McBride; and a sister-in-law, Avis McBride. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 8, 2006, 11 a.m. at the Flint Street Chapel, 1275 W. 200 N. (Flint Street), Kaysville. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
