WILL OF SIMON  BAKER OF MANCETTER:
Died 24 Jun 1775 age 74 (Will signed 16 Aug 1774 & Endorsed 13 Apr 1776)

"In the name of God, Amen.  I Simon Baker of mancetter in the County of Warwick, Yeoman, being in good state of health give" (see tombstone) "give and bequeath. . ."

1. To my son Thomas Baker all my household goods and furniture and all the ready money I happen to have by me at the time of my decease" he paying thereout all my debts and funeral expenses.
2. To my daughter Mary (Elizabeth crossed out and initialled) the sum of one guinea.
3. To my son John Baker all my money out at use". . ."and all the rest and residue of my personal estate". . ."my said son John paying thereout to each of the five children of my son, Thomas Baker, that is to say, Ann Baker, Elizabeth Baker, John Baker, Thomas Baker and Sarah Baker, the sum of ten pounds apiece together with what interest happen to be made thereof from the time of my decease to be paid to them respectively as and when they shall have respectively attained to the age of 21 years."  If any died before then their share to be divided among the others.
4. Son John Baker and George Geary of Oldbury in the parish of Mancetter were appointed joint executors.

"I, Thomas Baker the elder of Hartshill in the county of Warwick, Gentlemen. . ."
1.  Debts to be paid.
2. To my friend, John Baker of Ansley in county of Warwick "all that moiety of half share in the messuage etc., at Wilnecote in the county of Warwick now in the occupation of Obadiah Miles subject to the life estate of Obadiah Miles."
3.  "All other my real estate; . . .and stock of cattle, etc. "to said John Baker" on trust to sell for the best price he can get.  Proceeds to be divided thus:
     a. One third to my son Thomas Baker
     b. One third to my daughter Elizabeth wife of Michael Morewood of Hartsfield
     c. One third to Elizabeth and Ann Christian, children of my late daughter Ann Christian deceased; share and share alike to be paid them on marriage or on reaching the age of 21 the interest to go to their maintenance meanwhile.  If they die the money to be shared between the said son Thomas Baker and daughter Elizabeth Morewood.
4.  John Baker of Ansley appointed executor.

"I, Thomas Baker, of Hartshill in the county of Warwick, farmer, do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say I give and bequeath all my share and interest in four closes of land with the appurtenances in Desthill in the sd. county of Warwick now in the occupation of John Brown unto my nieces Elizabeth and Ann Christian their heirs and assigns as tenants in common and not as joint tenants.  And all the rest and residue of my estate and effects whatsoever I do give and bequeath "Unto my brother in law Michael Morewood."
Appoints "said brother in law" sole executor.

Thomas Baker was christened at Mancetter, Warwickshire, Eng. 13 Apr 1734. His parents were Simon Baker and Anne Villers (Mellus).
