       William owned a farm of 500 acres of land about 4 miles from Riceville.  He had been a land surveyor and real estate agent for years.  At age 75 he took Mary Sherwood to see the places where his father and uncles had lived and the graves were still there as well as the old covered bridge across the Never Sink River.
