The First Century of the History of Springfield, Mass. by Burt, Vol. 1 (977b S7696) At a meeting of Seletmen on 23 Feb 1662/63 "William Hunter was admitted as an Inhabitant of this Towne." A letter to Thelda Baker from Darwin R. Whitney in 1980 included this note from a book on Springfield by Mason Green, Sep 1673 which included "Hunters wife and daughters" and he thought was those of William Hunter: "Diverse women at Springfield presented at ye Courte for that being of meane estate they did weare Silkes contrary to Law. They were admonisht of their extravagancys and dismist." William Hunter and two of his young sons, James and John were killed by the Indians.
