To wife, Sarah all moveables for life; at her decease to go as follows: To brother John Pray 5 pounds To cousin (ie nephew) John Pray and two lots of land To cousin Hugh Pray 5 pounds To cousin richard Pray 5 pounds Rest of my estate to all my grandchildren, the children of Job Whipple. Inventory 220 pounds-4s-7d. Viz. carpenter tools, 2 bulls, 2 (?), a steer, 7 cows, 3 calves, mare & colt, sheep, old book, silver money, 1 pound-8s-4d. HISTORY: An account of Ephraim Pray written at the time of the Indian War with King Phillip, Aug 1676: "He was one of those that stayed and went not away." Feb 4, 1684: "He took the license that his mother had received three years before." Sep 1, 1687: "He was taxed 2s." 1687: "Ratable estate, 2 acres of tillage - 1/2 share of the meadow, 8 acres of wild pasture, a mare and a yearling horse." 1695: He was made a "Freeman." July 2, 1700: He and wife Sarah sold to John Keese of Portsmouth, a right of land. Jun 16, 1713: Taxed 13s. April 19, 1726: He deeded to Grandson Job Whipple jr. "for goodwill and affection as also for all the good service he my grandson hath already done for me, my homestead, farm and dwelling house," etc. Wife Sarah joined in the deed.
