       Jonathan Elmer was apparently born as Rufus Jonathan Elmore "natural" or illegimate son of first cousin Rufus Elmore and Lucy Elmore on 28 Jun 1803 (Vital Records.)  Rufus was the son of Ruben Elmore and Ruth Carkins; Lucy was the da. of Rubens bro. Elisha and wife Rhoda.  The Elmore family traces back to Edward Elmer who came to America in 1632, one of the founders of Hartford, Ct.

       Jonathan and his wife, Cynthia were buried in the Dexter Cemetery, Pillar Point, New York.
