BUCKLAND -- BOSWORTH:
      by Mary Bosworth Clark

Edward Bosworth and his wife Mary probably came to New England to be with their family. They made the voyage from Gravesend in the same vessel, the "Elizabeth and Dorcas" with their two sons Jonathan and Nathaniel, their daughter Mary and her husband William Buckland. Another son Benjamin had preceded them.
Edward Bosworth succumbed to the hardships of the voyage which was a difficult one with a great deal of sickness on board. He expired just as the ship was entering Boston Harbor and was taken up on deck in his dying moments so that he might see the "promised land." He was buried at Boston. The money that had been advanced for his transportation was repaid by his sons and William Buckland, his son-in-law. The "widow" Bosworth died at Hingham, 18 May 1648.
Regarding the Bosworth family, there's an interesting bit by N.E. Bucklin of Dallas, Texas, a descendant of William and Mary (Bosworth) Buckland.
"If some of us should be overcome by the wanderlust, do not be surprised for Pope's "Pioneers of Mass." says that these Bosworths, probably from Coventry, were originally a gypsy family who had gotten into Scotland some centuries ago where they were granted arms, and a motto "Cenemus Valet."

Bosworth Genealogy V. 1, p. 51-60:

Mary Bosworth, daughter of Edward (1) and Mary (____) Bosworth, born in England about 1611, married there, William Buckland. They seem to have come to America with her parents on the ship, "Elizabeth and Dorcas" in the Spring of 1634.
In 1635 William Buckland had land granted him on the North side of Weary-All (Otis) Hill, Hingham and a house-lot of five acres near the present R.R. station at West Hingham.
Here they seem to have been joined by the rest of the Bosworth family, the widow Mary, the mother, and sons Jonathan, Benjamin, Nathaniel and perhaps others.
Probably about 1655, William and Mary (Bosworth) Buckland, with sons Joseph and Benjamin and the daughter Lydia, with Mary's brother Jonathan Bosworth and family, removed to Rehoboth, Mass. The earliest record of William Buckland found at Rehoboth is 19 May 1656, when "William Bucklin" was chosen "Grandjuryman." 25 May 1657 william Buckland was chosn Constable.
