       John Patten, probably born in North Ireland, was of Scotch Presbyterian stock, called Scotch-Irish.  At age 23 he bought his first land in Londonderry, N.H.  His father-in-law was one of the original settlers at Londonderry, coming in 1719 Londonderry, Ireland.
