       Joseph Jump was "an eccentric man, and the father of several eccentric sons.  He was killed by being thrown from the stoop of the Mansion House by Hugh Atkins in a good natured scuffle."  He and his wife (who was his cousin) lived and died near Thomsonville, Rice Town in Sullivan county, NY.
