                   BIRTH: LTR 662- Information given by Carol Elenor Schmidt, daughter-in-law. Subsequent discussion with Fred Kausen, son, indicates that her family was from Gratz, Austria.  The family came with four daughters and may have settled first in St. Louis, MO. They were in San Francisco at the time of the 1906 earthquake.  Ann Ziegler may have come after the rest of her family. One of the daughters lived in Alameda and another in Berkley.
