Samuel BRIGGS
Ancestral File shows that John Briggs died in 1641. History of the Briggs Family shows the same date. Ancestral File also shows that Samuel Briggs, a son, was born abt. 1645. New England Historical and Genealogical Register..Vol4, April 1850 reprints information on the administration of the estate of John by his wife, Katherne (sp) and this states that John Briggs had two children: Samuel and Sarah. Given that Samuel was mentioned first may mean that he was actually older than Sarah, rather than younger, as portrayed in the Ancestral File. I changed Samuel's birth date to abt. 1640.........Bla

OTHER: Some genealogists seem to have confused Elizabeth and Bennett, giving them the same birthdates and even mingling the names (Elizabeth Bennett). However, we have used the write up found in NEHGR 1965: Vol 119, Pgs168-175 as the basis for this family...........Bla 01/12/02
BIRTH: Adding to the comments under sources, it also makes sense that the first daughter would be named Elizabeth.
BIRTH: The Ordinance Index uses the date of 3 April for the birth date. Rechecking the NEHGR though, 30 April is the right date.
He married Elizabeth Ellis Abt 1664 at Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts . Elizabeth Ellis was born at Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts Abt 1645 daughter of John Ellis and Elizabeth Freeman .
