Jefferson found it necessary to attend school only one year as he was taught
so well by his mother.  At that time he was able to pass examinations to become
a teacher, which profession he followed most of his early life.  For a time he
acted as secretary to Brigham Young.  Later he turned to farming.  He was a
"fiddler" and a dance master.
