Thomas WILLIAMS

                   Margaret Williams was born in Chirbury, Shropshire, England to a Thomas Williams and Susannah. There are no marriage events that we can find for Margaret and Thomas Adams. In the Parrish registers, when her children are christened, she lists the names of John, Richard and Walter and lists herself as a widow. On the marriage certificates of Richard, Margaret Ann and Walter, they list their father as John.



Margaret lived in the workhouse in 1841 with her children, John, Richard and Harriette (who died later that year). In 1845, she married John Davies. They had a son together and names him Thomas Davies. They lived in the Church

Stretton area the rest of their lives. Along with raising John, Richard, William Davies, and their son Thomas Davies, they also raised a granddaughter, Agnes, who was a daughter of Margaret Ann (Margaret's daughter). 



According to letters from her son Walter to his brother John, their mother Margaret was not very strong and had a difficult life. But she loved her children very much. It was a heartbreak for her when her oldest son John left old England to come to America in 1854. He was the only one of his family to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She never saw him again in this life. She died in Church Stretton in 1873. Her children loved and honored her memory, and they stayed very close. Her son John made the long journey back to his homeland in 1889 to visit his brothers and sister.
