NOTES:
    Stephen worked on the Nauvoo Temple. He was also a herdsman. His three sons with wife, Nancy Brown, did not wish to accompany them to Utah, so they ran away. The family knew nothing of their whereabouts. There were some relatives in Quincy, Ill, whom Stephen Shelton believed hid his sons.
