NAME: Nathaniel aka Nathan NOTES: According to Dr. Charles Milo Bell, who was born Uriah Benjamin Schoonover and changed his name, Nehemiah Patterson was captured by the Oneida Indians, along with his son Nathan. Nehemiah Patterson escaped a few days later, but Nathan stayed with the tribe and subsequently married within the tribe. He returned to visit his original family many times, but always remained faithful to his Indian wife whose name is unknown.
