Pascal Ransom Shelburn was the fifth son of eight known children of Robinson W. Shelburn and Amelia Frances Rodman. John and Elizabeth (Willis) Shelburn of Lunenburg Co., VA were his grandparents. Pascal is a descendant of the Thomas Shelburn Family that was in James City CO., VA in the early 1600's. Part of the Shelburn family remained in VA, while others moved to TN, IN, and KY. Pascals grandparents moved to Spencer CO., KY with their family and remained there. His parents resided in Taylorsville, KY, but by 1850, Pascal had moved to Ballard Co. and was working and living with families of this area. Pascal, Born ca 1823 in Taylorsville was a carpenter and cabinetmaker by trade. He married Marietta Dean (1829-1894), daughter of Jefferson H Dean and Catherine Nave of Jessamine co., KY. In 1860, Pascal and his family wre living in Beverly, Adams Co., IL, where he served as a constable. While living in IL, he was enrolled in the Union Army on 1-1-1862, serving as a private with the 3rd. Cav. Reg't, of the Missouri Voluteers. He was mustered out 6-29-1863 at Arcadia, MO. By 1870, the family was back in Ballard Co. where they remained. They were parents of eight children: Mary CatherineShelburn (1856-1935) born in KY, first married David Steinbeck, One child, William Pascal Steinbeck; next married Ditron F. 'Tobe" Elliott, eight children: Alonzo Monroe, Audie, Maudie, Claudie (triplets). Etta Lee, Thomas Baker, Iva Ola and Edward Ditron. Preston Shelburn born 1856 in Adams Co., IL. Georgia Ann Shelburn born (1859-1944) born Adams CO., IL. married John Edward Dodson, four children:Maude, Claude, Jasper and Mollie Ila. George William Shelburn(1862-1900) born in IL, Married A.M. Adams, six children: Hettie, Beulah, Chester, Lilly, Gracie Lee and Silas. Moreau T. Shelburn born 1866 in IL. Eudorah Bell Shelburn (1869-1945) born in KY, Married John H. Harris, four children: Ira, Eula,, Euwin, and Jackson. John L. Shelburn (1872-1891) born KY, died young. Dr. Cue Davis Shelburn (1874-1914) born Blandville, , KY, married Alice Powers and Orda Felts Moore: buried Arlington, KY. Pacal died 10-23-1880; Marietta died 4-13-1894, Buried in Palsestine Church Cmetery, kCarlisle CO. KY.
