Obit Mineral Point Tribune Mineral Point, Wisconsin September 7, 1922
A Dear Mother at Rest
Quietly and calmly, Mrs Joseph G. Bennett passed suddenly from this life on Friday morning, September 1st at her home at 336 Dodge Street.
The deceased wasa born in Eagle Harbor, Mich. Aug 16, 1854, her maiden name being Mary Ellen Beckerleg ?. In her girlhood she came with her parents and family to Wisconsin, and has resided continously in the vicinity and in the city of Mineral Point since then.
On Januaty 29,1880 she was wedded to Joseph G. Bennett, and to their union were born four children who survive her: Wm H. of Denver, Colo, Irvin H., who resides on the home farm in Diamond Grove, Mrs Clarence Julian, and Susan, who reside in this city.
Her labors were many and ardous, but her love was always true and strong: often it seemed too strong for her frail body. Her passing, while it saddened the community, strengthens the faith of those who knew her, for she lived noble, and such lives are not lived in vain. Mrs Bennett was always a christian and church member. She united with the Primitive Methodist Church in girlhood and for many years was a hard worker in the church at Plum Grove. After moving to Mineral Point she joined the Methodist Church April 7, 1912 during the pastorate of A.B. Bourquard. No church ever had a more consistent member. Her life was devoted to others and by her many acts of charity and love she drew all who knew her to become her unfaltering friends.
The funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon, conducted by J.E. Cooke. Garnet Wearing, Dorcas Jacks and Madge Opie furnished the music. A very large company of friends assembled to show their respect and love.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Richard Beckerleg of Edgely, North Dakota, W.H. Bennett of Denver, Colo., Arnold Williams, Clarence Woodbury and wives, Mrs J. Williams, Miss Winnie Phillips, Thomas Phillips of Dodgeville, W.J. Rule and family of Edmond and Mrs Gilbert Gorgen of Fennimore.
