John W. Austin Agd 72 Dies
John William Austin,72, pioneer railrod employee died at 9:50 oclock Sunday
morning at his home 141 30th St.  He was born in Angelus Camp, California on
May 7, 1858 the son of William and Mary Stones Austin.  His mother died 2 weeks
ago at age 93.
Mr Austin had lived in Ogden since 1867.  He had worked as a trucker, check
clerk, tonnage clerk and finally as chief clerk in the united freight offices
of the U.P. and S.P. railways.  He was retired two years ago.
Mr Austin took an active part in civic affairs and had served as councilman
under mayor A.L. Brewer, William Glassman and E.M. Conroy.  He was one of the
Veteran Fireman's Association and the Old Timers Club and a member of Weber
Camp 74, Woodsman of the World.  He is survived by his widow Mary Reese Austin
and the following sons and daughters, John Austin, Green River; Mrs Huber King,
Ogden; Frank W. Austin, Mrs John Bowman and six grandchildren all of ogden.
Brothers and sisters surviving are Mrs Ida Smith and A.G. Austin of Ogden and
Mrs David Margetts Salt Lake City; and Mrs J.H. Lahey, Spokane,Washington.
Services will be Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 in the 19th ward chapel with
Bishop D.C. Stuart presiding.  The body will be viewed at the home Tuesday
afternoon and Wednesday morning till 1:00 oclock.  Interment city cemetary
under the direction of Larkin and Sons.

Mary Austin, Pioneer, Dead
Widow of City Councilman
Had Resided In Ogden Since 1867

      Mrs Mary Austin, 80, an Ogden pioneer, died Saturday afternoon at the
family home, 141 30th.
      Mrs Austin was the widow of John W. Austin, who served in the city council
for over 12 years under three mayors, A.L. Brewer, E.M. Conroy and Abbot R.
Heywood.
      She was born in Cardiff, Wales, Feb 18, 1858 to William and Sarah Haddock
Rees.  With her mother she emigrated to American when she was nine, coming
directly to Ogden, where she had since resided.
     In 1878 she married Mr Austin in Ogden.  President Charles F. Middleton
performed the ceremony.
      Mr. Austin died here May 30, 1930.
     Mrs Austin was a member of the Neighbors of Woodcraft, Circle 581.  She was
a past guardian of Sego Lily circle No 174 and past president of the Veteran
Firemen's auxiliary organization.
      She is survived by the following children, John R. Austin, Grand Island,
Neb; Frank W. Austin, Mrs Hubert (Lettie) King, and Mrs John (Neta) Bowman of
Ogden; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.  The Larkin mortuary is in
charge of funeral services.

John Raymond Austin burial records gives his wife as Alice Wright.  She was
probably his second wife as Mayne died in 1946 and he died in 1957.  His first
wife was Mayne Lucy Stevens

Heber---John Raymond Austin 76, native of Ogden, died Wednesday in Heber.
Among the survivors is a sister Mrs. John Bowman, Ogden.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 1 p. in the LDS Heber Fourth
Ward.  Friends may call at the Olpin Mortuary tomight from 7 to 9 and tomorrow
prior to services.  Burial in Ogden City Cemetary.

There is a marriage for Lettie to Stanley Johnson and she is later enumerated
with her father in the 1920 federal census and is listed as Lettie Johnson
daughter age 37 and born in Utah.  She is listed in her father's obit as Mrs
Hubert King.

Mrs Lettie Austin King, 2955 Lincoln Ave., died Saturday at three pm in a local
hospital after a one month illness.
     She was born in Ogden November 14, 1883, a daughter of John W. and Mary Rees
Austin.  She spent her entire life in Ogden and for the past 40 years had been
active in the Nineteenth LDS Ward.
     She was a member of the ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She is survived by two brothers and a sister; Frank W. Austin, Ogden; John R.
Austin, Heber City, Mrs John Bowman, Ogden.
     Funeral services Tuesday in the Larkin Mortuary Chapel.

Retired Ogden Waterworks Employee, 72 Dies at Home
Frank W. Austin,72 reitred office manager of the Ogden City waterworks
department, died yesterday at his home, 2256 Quincy ave., after an extended
illness.
      Mr Austin was a member of the commission that wrote the city charter for
Ogden's Council manager form of government.
He was born Jan. 1, 1884 in Ogden, a son of John W. and Mary Rees Austin.
On July 17 , 1913, he married Alta Coleman.
He was a member of the LDS Thirteenth Ward.
Surviving are his widow, Ogden., two sons and two daughters Frank S.
Austin and Mrs Glen R. (Joyce) Urry, both of Ogden; Harold C. Austin, West
Covina, Calif., and Mrs Herbert W. (Janice) Lindquist, Oakland, Calif; six
granchildren, one brother and sister, John R. Austin, Heber City, and Mrs John
(Neta) Bowman, Ogden.
Burial Wednesday in the Ogden City Cemetary.

Mrs Neta Austin Bowman, 67 969 39th died Monday evening in St. Benedict's
Hospital after a four-day illness.
       Mrs Bowman was born May 29, 1893 in Ogden, a daughter of John W. and Mary
Reese Austin.  She was married to John Bowman on Jan. 10,1928 in Ogden.  They
later recieved endowments in the Logan Temple.
       She was a member of the Relief Society and Singing Mothers Chorus of the
Seventeen Ward.
       Surviving are her husband, one daughter Mrs Kenneth L. (Nadine) Post,
Walnut Creek, Calif.
       Funeral Thursday in the Larkin Chapel.  Interment in the Ogden City
