Gun Mishap Kills Utah Woman
Heber, April 1 - Mrs Mayne l. Austin, 60, wife of John R. Austin, was killed
Saturday at 11:15 am when she knocked over a 22 calibre rifle while cleaning
the attic in her home and it discharged accidentally.
     Mrs Austin was born May 31, 1885 at Grand Junction, Colo. a daughter of J.W.
and Lucy Bedell Steven.  She was a graduate of the University of Colorado and
the University of California.
      With her husband, chief dispatch and trainmaster of the Union Pacific
railroad, she had lived at Green River,Wyo., Grand Island, Neb., Ogden, and
Omaha, Neb.  Last October, her husband was retired from the railroad and they
moved to their home in Heber.  She was a member of the Episcopal church and of
the Women's club in Omaha, and was active in Girl Scout and Red Cross work.
     Surviving are her husband, a daughter, Mrs Coleman Fitzgerald, Mill
Valley, Calif., a son, John R. Austin, Jr., Omaha; two grandchildren, two
brothers, Norman and William Stevens.
