Headstone said 1860 Obit Mary Austin, Pioneer, Dead Widow of City Councilman Had Resided In Ogden Since 1867 Mrs Mary Austin, 80, an Ogden pioneer, died Saturday afternoon at the family home, 141 30th. Mrs Austin was the widow of John W. Austin, who served in the city council for over 12 years under three mayors, A.L. Brewer, E.M. Conroy and Abbot R. Heywood. She was born in Cardiff, Wales, Feb 18, 1858 to William and Sarah Haddock Rees. With her mother she emigrated to American when she was nine, coming directly to Ogden, where she had since resided. In 1878 she married Mr Austin in Ogden. President Charles F. Middleton performed the ceremony. Mr. Austin died here May 30, 1930. Mrs Austin was a member of the Neighbors of Woodcraft, Circle 581. She was a past guardian of Sego Lily circle No 174 and past president of the Veteran Firemen's auxiliary organization. She is survived by the following children, John R. Austin, Grand Island, Neb; Frank W. Austin, Mrs Hubert (Lettie) King, and Mrs John (Neta) Bowman of Ogden; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. The Larkin mortuary is in charge of funeral services.
