Feb.9th of an internal tumor. The deceased was about 70 yrs old and the mother of 12 children, 3 having died as infants. Most of her children are living in this vicinity. 15 Feb 1899 - Mrs Horace Adams, age 69 died at her home near Fairbank last Thurs, morning after a lingering illness. She was buried Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Baptist Church with Rev. Day officiating. She is survived by her husband, 3 sons, Frank,Andrew and John 2 daughters, Nancy and Dolly.

Need to check Kane County again to see if there are any recent Cem. records at Salt Lake City Library. Mary Gallop said this child died at age 6. The family is still in Illinois in 1850 so Melissa probably died in Illinois. My family records said she died at age 6 weeks. Mary gave her name as Melissa Jane but she didn't give her source. Mary also said in her notes that Melissa Jane Adams : After marriage, went west in covered wagon?

Married Emerald Wood in 1867 and they lived in Grundy Co. They had two children, James E. Wood and Mrs Julia West. A little over 3 years later on Aug 27 he died. She married Butler R. Waite, June 12 1875. He died June 5 1890. Survivors 3 sisters Mrs L. Engledow of California and Mrs Cynthia Willey of Havelock and Mrs Ida Ranney of Rolfe and a brother John Adams of Fairbank. A son James and a daughter Julia. He was a bachelor about 44 years old and had been in poor health a number of years but the immediate cause of death was typhoid fever. His parents are Horace Adams and wife, and two sisters survive him.

She is married to him in the 1900 Federal Census in Sioux City,Ia. She is not buried on this lot or there isn't a headstone. She would have died last, no one to put a headstone on? Buried with a third husband under another name?

Rosella probably gave the census information and may not have known Benjamin's Mother was born in Canada. The research done on the Adams family at this time has not shown any evidence of Indian Heritage.

Adams Willey, but there is one for her husband. Cynthia Salome's obit said she was buried May 11 at the Washington Cem. Paper dated May 12, 1932. OBIT Cynthia Salome Adams Willey born Faribanks,Black Hawk, Iowa, March 27, 1864 and died May 8, 1932 at Hawarden,Ia. Married William Willey, a veteran of the Civil War, May 13, 1882 at Lester, Iowa and was the mother of 12 children. Five having preceeded their parents in death, those living are Albert Willey of St. Paul, Mn, Leo Willey of Havelock, Mrs Hattie Page of Waverly, Robert Willey of Des Moines; Mrs Grace Adams of Olivia, Mn; Mrs Margaret Northrop of Hawarden; Walter Willey, Olivia, Mn. Left to mourn are 7 children and 5 step children; Silas Willey of Des Moines; Wesley Willey of Oakes, ND; Mrs Stella Sluggert, Moorhead, Minn.; Mrs Della Oliver of Des Moines; Mrs Lona DeVaul of Havelock, One brother John Adams of Fairbanks, one sister, Mrs Ellen Engledow, of Mariposa, Calif, Funeral serviced at the Havelock M.E. Church at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, May 11. Interment was the Washington Cemetery where the American Legion Auxiliary conducted the funeral services. Barbara Emmons sent me a picture of Luke and Ida Luzina Ranney with four of their children post marked in White Owl, SD 1901. Children were Madge Margaret, Frankie Helen, Ella Rachel (Dot) and William Foster Ranney.
