History written by Pearl Snow«/b»
Andrew Jackson Blackett was born in Springville, Utah September 19, 1864. He was baptized a member of the church at 8 years. He moved from Springville with his parents to Monroe and from there to Nephi where he has lived since. He started school at age 10 under the direction of Jerusha Boswell for one year, then to Mrs. Schofield, Gus Henroid, Charlie Morris, and Lizzie Schofield, finishing the fifth grade. It was hard in those days for parents to give their children an education. He was compelled to stop school and help his father on the farm and work at what he could find. He worked on the Oregon Short Line doing grading work. He worked at odd jobs until about 1886 when he worked for the United States Coast and Judilic Service as a surveyor for 13 summers. During this time, he was camped on top of Mt. Nebo 12000 feet above sea level. He carried supplies from the bottom to the top, staying from May till August. He then did survey work on the Beaver Mountain, Ogden Mountains and also helped survey what is known as Church Island, the Elks Mountain in Colorado 14400 feet and in Nevada.

He was married to Sarah Jane Worthington December 27, 1888 at Nephi, Utah. They had seven children, 4 girls, 3 boys. He has been engaged in farming ever since his marriage. He has been an honest man all his life and would never cheat , not even as a child. He was always willing to help in time of need. He has been a good husband and father and has always worked for the interest of his wife and children both in education and financial ways.

«b»Notes from history written by Kenneth Keith Blackett about his father Charles Kenneth Blackett
«/b»Cause of his death was an auto accident in his town of Nephi, Juab, Utah. In front of the old north ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints. On highway 91 in January of 1940 either on the 17th or 18th. He was traveling to his mother in laws to see his son Kenneth Keith who was sick and had stayed there when he left was sent home from school. As Charles Kenneth Blackett was traveling toward there a car driven by a person that was very drunk was coming at head on at a very high speed. Upon impact Ken's car motor landed in the seat beside him, and the steering wheel was pushed into is chest. After Ken was extracted from the wreckage, they took him home along with the doctor to try and treat him. Being unable to help him, they said that he sould have to be taken to the hospital. The hospital at that time was in Provo Utah which was 48 miles from his home. They had no ambulance in the town so they called the undertaker to bring the funeral car to take him in so they would be able to keep him layed out flat. By the time they got him there, he had lost so much blood that they could not save his life. I thought that it may e something of interest for someone in the future to know how he came to his death. This is what I Kenneth Keith Blackett can remember of the accident and what I was told by my mother at the time.

A broken rib had gone through his heart. The mother was pushed into the cab or front, of father's car and pinned him between stearing wheel and back of seat and the pressure of the motor going through the wall into the front seat crushed his chest so bad that one broken rib pierced his heart. They brought father home and laid him on the dining table as it was long and flat. They they took him to the Provo Hospital. He died as he got to Payson.

«/b»Nephi - Kenneth Blackett, 35, of Nephi, became Juab county's first traffic victim of 1940 Friday when he died at 11:45 AM in a Provo Hospital of internal injuries suffered when his automobile collided headon with another machine Thursday at Nephi. Mr. Blackett, according to Marshal J.R. Barnes, was driving south of US Highway 91, two blocks north of the Nephi business district, when his car collided with a northbound automobile driven by W.F. Barron of Sigurd.

Foggy Windshields - although he had not completed his investigation Friday night, Marshal Barnes said he believed foggy windshields on both cars were contributing factors in the accident. He said he would report to the county attorney probably Saturday and give complete details of his investigation. The marshal said Barron was driving on the wrong side of the road at the time of the crash and would be held in custody pending completion of the investigation.

Notes taken from paper provided by Kenny Blackett, brother of Kenny Blackett.
Charles Kenneth Blackett - cause of his death was an auto accident in his town of Nephi, Juab Co., Utah. In front of the old north ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. On highway 91 in January of 1940 either on the 17th or 18th. He was traveling to his mother-in-laws to see his sone Kenneth Keith who was sick and had stayed there when he left was sent home from school. As Charles Kenneth Blackett was traveling toward there a car driven by a person that was very drunk was coming at head on at a very high speed. Upon impact Ken's car mother landed in the seat beside him, and the stearing wheel was pushed into his chest. After Ken was extracted from the wreckage they tool he home along with the doctor to try and treat him. being unable the help him they said that he would have to be taken to the hospital. The hospital at that time was in Provo Utah which was 48 miles from his home. They had no ambulance in the town so they called the undertaker to bring the fuernl car to take him in so they would be able to keep layed out flat. By the time they got him there he had lost so much blood that they could not save his life. I thought that it my be something of interest for some one in the future to know how he came to his death. This is what I Kenneth Keith Blackett can remember of the accident and what I was tolod by my nother at the time. (Other notes: broken rib had went through his heart. The motor was pushed into the cab (or front) of father's car and pinned him between steering wheel and back of seat and the pressure of the motor going through the wall into the front seat crushed his chest so bad that one broken rib pierce his heart. They brought Father home and laid him on the dibing table as it was long and flat. They they took him to the Provo Hospital
