Genealogy of Ingersoll Family - Pg. 1 Richard Ingersoll of Salem, Massachusetts came to Salem in 1629 with Higginson, arriving June 29. In the original list of householders receiving "House lotts graunted by ye town" (1638) Richard Ingersoll is given 2 acres, also 80 acres on the Cape Ann side. . . In 1640 Richard Ingersoll's family is credited with nine persons and he is given an allotment of 1 acre. . . He died in Salem in 1644 probably soon after making his will, 21 July 1644. . . Prved in court upon oath 2 Jan 1644-1645. Inventory taken 4 Oct 1644. . . Richard Ingersoll married in Sands, England 20 October 1616, Agnes or Ann Langley, who is said to be a cousin of John Spencer of Newbury. Ann Ingersoll, the widow of Richard, married for a second husban, John Knight. "Me71chant tailor of Newbury." He ws the father of John Knight, Jr., who married her youngest daughter Bathsheba.
