Dexter, Worcester, MA 1905 «/b»Pg. 5 - Thomas Dexter either came to this country with Mr. Endicott in 1629 or in the fleet with Governor Winthrop in 1630. He brought with him three of his children at least and several servants, but as there is no record of his wife, it is presumed that she died before they saled from England. . . He had received a good educaation, and wrote a beautifun hand. . was a man of great energy of character, public-spirited. . . his energy of character bordered on stubbornness and his independence of though on indiscretion and self-will. In 1630, in the prime of life, he settled on a farm of 800 acress in the town of Lynn, Massachusetts.. . . . started the first iron works in this section of the country. . . became a freeman in 1631, but soon lost the honor, for he was disfranchised on the 4th of March 1633. He had many quarrels and many vexatious lawsuits. In 1637 he and nine other obtained a grant of the township of Sandwich wheere he built the first grist mill. He did not remain there long, for in 1638, he had 350 acres assigned to him as one of the inhabitants of Lynn. In 1657 Mr. Dexter took the oath of fidelity. He was admitted freeman of Plymouth Colony on 1 June 1658. Final days spent with his daughter, who was the wife of Captain Oliver. He died there in 1677, and was buried in the Oliver tomb in King's Chapel Burying Ground. - member of Puritan Church.

Elizabeth Vincent, 1648 In 1647 he was chosen constable for the town of Sandwich. . . he appears to have been a worthy man, enterprising, useful, a good neighbor, and a good citizen. In addition to the land received from his father, he was granted 100 acres upland in Sandwich in 1667. He married Elizabeth Vincent, 8 Nov 1648, and they have five children, all being alive except Thomas as the time of his death (which occurred 29 Dec 1686).
