Lindquist Mortuary, Ogden. Loren Alma Heiner passed away quietly at home on Monday, April 17, 2006. He was born October 29, 1917 in Morgan, Utah, to Royal Oscar and Wealtha Porter Heiner. He graduated from Morgan High School in 1939 where he played football, basketball, ran track and won awards in pole vaulting. He attended Weber College studying architecture and later earned a Bachelors in Mathematics and Psychology. He also earned a BS and secondary teaching certificate from the University of Utah in 1950 and Masters in Science Education in 1959. Loren married Larine Larsen Petersen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 3, 1943. She died July 12, 1989. He later married Colleen Ballow. They were later divorced. Loren was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, Weber County and Ogden City Schools and many building contractors. He also built several homes in the Ogden area as a General Contractor. He was an excellent teacher and won the honor of attending the Academic Year Institute sponsored by the National Science Foundation at the University of Utah in 1958-59 along with 50 other teachers in the US. He taught at Hooper and Wahlquist Jr. High, Bonneville and Ogden High Schools as a Physics, Mathematics and Science Teacher. He enjoyed traveled the world. He also enjoyed working in his bountiful garden and sharing the fruits of his labors with others. Loren enjoyed all types of sporting events, especially football and basketball, water skiing, swimming and horse back riding. Surviving are his five daughters, Joan Christiansen, Adell (Dearl) Sharp, Genette (Steve) Child, Lorna (Val) Cox, all of Ogden; Tamara (Phillip) Denvy, Everett, WA; one son, Douglas J. (Sue) Heiner, Ogden; 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Doyle P. Heiner, Morgan; and one sister, Hazel Ford, Price, Utah. He was preceded in death by his wife, larine Peterson Heiner, one son, Loren Ross Heiner and one daughter, Marla Jean Francis, his parents, Royal Oscar and Wealtha Porter Heiner, three sisters, Grace Bates, Ruby Potter, Reta Foley, two brothers, Grant Heiner and Ralph Heiner and one great-grandson, Austin Perry. Funeral services will be held Saturday April 22, 2006 at 1 PM at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Brother James Park of the Ogden Grandview Ward officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 PM and Saturday 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM. Interment, Huntsville Cemetery.
