Irva Despain Blackett Howard, age 87, passed away November 30, 1994 in Nehi, Utah.
She was born January 25, 1907 in Birch Creek, Sanpete County, to Ira L. and Carrie Eveyln Sorensen Despain. She married Thomas Herman Blackett October 1, 1925 in Nephi, marriage later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He died December 22, 1940. She married Earl Richard Howard February 3, 1947 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He died October 18, 1994.She was educated in Fountain Green and Moroni schools. She worked hard all her life. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, making quilts and has done many beautiful pieces of work. She was a member of the LDS Church serving in the Primary and Sunday School and was a faithful visiting teacher. She was a member of the DUP.
Survived by four daughters, Evelyn (Newell) Bracken of Lindon; Loeta (Larry) Howarth of Nephi; Rae (Boyd) Coombs of Highland; Kae (Clifford) Park of Layton; daughter-in-law, Nadine (Evan) Blackett of Nephi; half sister, Erma Oxborrow; 17 grandchilderen; 47 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by a son, Evan Blackett; one brother; five half brothers and sisters; one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, December 6, 1994 in the Nephi Stake Center, 351 North 100 West. Friends may call at the stake center Tuesday from 10 to 11:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial in the Vine Bluff Cemetery. Funeral directors, Anderson Funeral Home.
