Gean Worthington
«/b»Gean Worthington passed away September 3, 2001 at age 90.
He was born January 8, 1911 to George Ison and Georgina Winn Worthington in Nephi, Utah. Gean was a premature baby and his mother gave her life at his birth.
He was cared for by his Aunt Elizabeth in Idaho for his first four years before returning to Nephi to his father and family. He attended Juab High School where he developed a great interest in photography as a staffer on the yearbook, which later became his profession and business. Here he also fell in love with his sweetheart Nelda Belliston. He trained at the Eastman Kodak School in New York City and returned and married Nelda on June 4, 1931. They were sealed in the Manti Temple one year later.
They are the parents of four living sons. Don LeRoy (Marilyn) of San Diego, CA; Kent LaMar (Connie) of Bountiful, J. Karl (Norma) and Boyd Gordon (Pat), both of Orem.
Gean was a devoted husband and father and a successful businessman.
He was very civic minded and served as President of the Utah Professional Photographers Association, and also as an officer in the local civic clubs and Chamber of Commerce. His other devotion was to his church where he served in the auxiliary organizations and as a priesthood leader. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nelda, who died in September of 1979.
He married Leta Christiansen in 1980 and she died in 1990. He has lived the past 11 years at a retirement center in Orem.
Services will be held at the Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center St. in Provo on Friday September 7th at 2 p.m. Friends and family are also invited to a viewing on Thursday evening Sept. 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. and for one hour before the services on Friday.
Interment at
Payson Cemetery.
