«b»Obituary given on Find a Grave Website - Parowan Times - 24 June 1925 - Prominent Paragonah Citizen Dies
«/b» After a weeks illness, following a parlytice stroke on Sunday morning of last week, Mr. James B. Davenport, prominent citizen of Iron County and resident of Paragonah, passed away quietly at his home on Sunday last. He has apparently been enjoying good health, and the Friday evening before he was stricken, attended a wedding dance and danced an unusual number of times. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon, many of the Parowan people going down to attend it.

Lack of space in this issue precludes our going into detail concerning Mr. Davenports very active and useful career, but we trust that out Paragonah correspondent may send us a comprehensive story for next week.

(Parowan Times 7/8/1925 ran a life story on Mr. Davenport giving more detail. Available copy not readable)

James homesteaded a large piece of land on the eastern side of Paragonah. He later deeded part of this homestead to the town of Paragonah for a cemetery, and another section (intended for a park) where the school was built. He was instrumental in the building of Red Creek Resevoir which has been a great asset to the citizens of Paragonah ever since.
