Cancer Fatal to Sena B. Mortenson
Monday morning death relieved Mrs. Sena B. Mortenson of the ravages of cancer of the stomach. She has been failing for several months and death came as a relief of a malady too far gone to admit of hope of recovering. Funeral services presided over they Bishop's Counselor Erastus Peterson were held in the North Ward Chapel yesterday afternoon at 3:00. The passing of Mrs. Mortenson marks the close of an earthly career of a fine patient lady who has brought comfort to many a home in time of sickness. Left alone to struggle for the necessities of life, she has succeeded admirably well in raising her large family. She was born February 11, 1861 in Hals, Aalborg, Denmark, the daughter of Niels Jens Block and Johanna Christensen. With her parents she joined the LDS C hurch and came to America. Early in life she was married and became the mother of a large family of children. It fell upon her shoulders to alone rear her family. The children left to mourn her passing are Mrs. N.P. Jr., Peterson, Manti; Mrs. Chris Sorenson, Talmadge; Niels Mortensen and Mrs. Tillie Ballow, Levan; Mrs. Elvira Sidwell, Jerome, Idaho; Mrs. W. S. Carlson, Mrs. Wm McFarlene, and Mrs. Louis Munk of Manti.
