Steel Worker Stabbed to Death in Booth at Bar - E.C. Belleau, 28, living at the Delta Hotel, was stabbed to death at 10:30 last night at the Lafayette Bar, 246 South San Joaquin Street, in a knife battle, resulting in a charge of murder being placed today against Tony Ciceroni 37, residing at the Dale Hotel. Police reports said Ciceroni, had been drinking, went to the bar, where his knife flashed once, cutting Belleau in the abdomen. Belleau staggered up from his chair and fell on the floor. He was dead when police arrived a few moments later.
Quarreled with Another - Ciceroni had been in the bar earlier in the evening, where, police learned, he quarreled with another man, and had apparently returned with the knife seeking action.
Unknown to Victim - He was not known to Belleau. When he came to a booth in which Balleau was seated with two friends, he picked a quarrel with Belleau. Before the later could move to defend himself, Ciceroni is said by polic to have plunged his knife into Belleau's body. Ciceroni has been in Stockton for 20 years and has a mother living at 164 West Fourth Street. Little is known here of Belleau other than he is a steel worker. (Jeannette Tredway says that Edwin Charles was having an affair with the wife of Ciceroni and that was why he was stabbed.)
