Died falling over a style while tending sheep because his home caught fire leaving the family quite poor.  He lived at Church End Farm in Studham.  The servant girl set the house on fire.  James had to sell everything including the stock to buy things to start all over.  He went to work as a shepherd and was tending the sheep when he crossed the style and died.
