Departed for mission to Scotland on 12 Aug 1942 Returned from mission 15 Feb 1943 For some time Harold had been trying to get permission from the National Service Officer to get six month's leave of absence to go into the Mission Field. this permission was finally granted, just before his marriage, so after he and his bride spent three days together in Birmingham and London, he left for Scotland, his assigned field of labor. His wife, Effie May Bettridge Thomas, continued in her job at R.T.E. for some months. Harold was released from the Mission Field on February 23, 1943.
